01 - What is the SOL Association?

It is an institution to help children infected and/or affected by HIV/AIDS.

02 - What was its founding date?

December 17, 1992.

03 - What is its main objective?

SOL was founded with the main objective to answer the needs of children orphans of AIDS.

04 - What are its financial means?

- Sol is primarily sustained by donations from Individuals, Business Enterprises and Members’ Fees.

- It also has an agreement with the Institute for Social Security which was enacted in November 2004.

This only covers 11 children of the 21 home owners.
This support is worth 4,906.77 € per month.

- A project is submitted annually to the Committee for the VIH/AIDS Infection of the Ministry of Health.

05 - What are SOL’s facilities?

06 - What is the Residential Unit?

It is CASA SOL where 21 children (Home Owners) reside.

07 - What is the Centre for Psychosocial Service and Accompaniment?

It is a centre with a capacity to care for 15 children where they are ensured hygiene, nourishment, education, and medical and hospital assistance.

All the services provided by Sol are TOTALLY FREE

08 - What is Family Support?

SOL also provides help for children and their families in their homes through the supply of food, diapers, sanitary products, clothing, shoes, medicinal products, payment for nurseries or individual nurses, payment of social season tickets, aid for house rentals, specific articles such as spectacles, orthopaedic boots, hearing aids, etc.

09 - Does it provide Training?

Training and/or Information for schooling, business, trade, etc.

Training activities cover the following areas:

  • Non discrimination
  • Knowledge of the sickness
  • Abatement of risk behaviour
  • Prevention
10 - What does SOL represent?

SOL represent, SOLidarity, light, hope, promotion of equality in treatment and support in the fight against discrimination and in the promotion of citizenship and of THE RIGHTS OF MAN AND OF THE CHILD.
